Background of the Study
Mobile learning tools are revolutionizing the educational landscape by enabling flexible, anytime access to academic resources. At Benson Idahosa University, the rapid proliferation of mobile devices has created opportunities for integrating mobile learning into conventional academic practices. Information literacy is crucial in this context, as it equips students with the ability to effectively utilize mobile technologies, evaluate digital content, and navigate various learning platforms (Ijeoma, 2023). This study examines how strong information literacy skills influence the adoption of mobile learning tools, enhancing students’ academic performance and engagement. The shift toward mobile learning necessitates that students become proficient in using apps, digital textbooks, and online collaborative tools, ensuring that they maximize the pedagogical benefits of these resources. The research explores instructional methods, user accessibility, and the challenges associated with mobile-based learning environments, thereby identifying areas for improvement (Chisom, 2024). The findings are expected to inform educators and technology developers, promoting the integration of effective information literacy components into mobile learning initiatives.
Statement of the Problem (150 words)
Many students at Benson Idahosa University face difficulties adopting mobile learning tools due to inadequate information literacy skills. These deficiencies result in ineffective use of mobile applications and limited engagement with digital learning content (Ngozi, 2023). A lack of proper training and guidance on mobile learning strategies hampers the students’ ability to leverage these technologies fully. This gap leads to underutilization of available mobile resources, negatively impacting academic outcomes and hindering the potential benefits of a mobile-enabled learning environment (Uche, 2024).
Objectives of the Study
To assess students’ information literacy levels regarding mobile learning tools.
To determine the impact of these skills on the adoption of mobile learning.
To recommend strategies to enhance mobile learning through improved information literacy.
Research Questions
What is the current level of information literacy among students for mobile learning?
How does information literacy influence the adoption of mobile learning tools?
What improvements can be implemented to enhance mobile learning experiences?
